Bulletin Board: Greenfield Savings Bank sponsor 3rd annual Big Brothers, Big Sisters event at Valley Blue Sox

The third annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Valley Blue Sox event, sponsored by Greenfield Savings Bank, took place at Friday’s game between the Blue Sox and the Vermont Mountaineers. 

GSB sponsored 25 Bigs and Littles from each of the Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin County Big Brother Big Sister charters to attend Friday’s game in Holyoke.

Adult softball

JRB 11, Liberty Tax Sharks 3 — Colton Yezierski cracked two doubles and a home run to drive in two, Melvin Moreno recorded three hits and two RBIs while Zeb Crossman had three hits and three RBIs in JRB’s victory on Friday. 

Mike Cole and Mireille Bejjani each had two hits for the Sharks. 

Basketball

Franklin Tech Summer League

Juliana Eichenlaub tallied 15 points while Anna Conklin tossed in nine points, helping Hopkins walk away with a 52-22 win over Athol on Thursday in a Franklin Tech Girls Summer Basketball League contest. 

Olivia Horrigan and Ally Robertson each scored six points while Abigayle Spooner added two points for the Bears. 

In the second game of the night, Addison Harrington poured in 24 points, Kyler McClelland scored 17 points while Kiara Gruszkoswki, Kayle Gruszkowski, Natalie Rios, Caitlin Graves and Corey Scagel each scored two in Pioneer’s 51-32 win over Greenfield.

Anna Bucala put up 17 points and Gloria McDonald added 14 points for the Wave. 

After, Hannah Gilbert scored 12 points, Laken Woodard tallied nine points, Abi Dobias scored three points and Cordelia Guerin and Sarah Beckwith each had two points in Franklin Tech’s 28-20 win over Mahar. 

Hayden Comeau led the Sens with 14 points, Haylee Paluk scored four points while Lexi Ares and Jayiah Eady had two points. 

To close things out, Frontier walked away with a 45-18 win over Mahar behind 15 points from Rowan Riley, 11 points from Whitney Campbell, five points from Jazzy Hayes and four points each from Skyler Steele, Bella Orrell and Harper Modestow. Comeau scored 11 points while Paluk had five points for the Senators. 

DRIVE League

Caden Williams scored 13 points to lift Turners Falls to a 44-35 win over Franklin Tech on Thursday in boys varsity action in the DRIVE League at Greenfield High School. 

Cole Bassett scored 11 points while Mason Bassett finished with nine points for the Eagles. 

After, John Davis scored 16 points in Keene’s 76-31 win over Hatfield. Garrett Willard scored 13 points in the loss. 

To close out the night, Alex Ellis tossed in 22 points and Max Millette added 15 points as Frontier walked away with a 61-41 win against Hampshire. Brayden Jarrett scored 15 points for the Raiders. 

Golf

Greenfield Elks League

Bill Erman and Paul Viens led the way with 58 points in the Greenfield Elks League at Country Club of Greenfield on Wednesday. 

Keith Schempp and John Stacy took second (54.5) while Mike Larabee and Tom Rogers placed third (53.5). 

In closest to the pin Jeff Neipp won on No. 2 (11 feet, 10 inches) while Stacy won on No. 5 (5-1.5).
